Arriving at the mill, we went to the office where we found Dopey sitting in an easy chair with his feet propped up on his desk, puffing away on an extra large cigar He appeared to run his business very effectively by issuing orders to the various assistants about him Later, back in the United States, we stopped off at Chicago hlle waiting in the hotel lobby, we saw two familiar figures going towards the dining room The were none other than Janet and Janis Shaffer Hurrying up to hem, we began to pop the usual questions ' hat have you been doing 'How have you bee They informed us that they w re secretaries at Mayo Brothers' Clinic in Rochester, Mlrnesota Right then, they were on their vacation Leaving the hotel, we decided to do some shoppirg in Marshall Field and Company In the elevator, we noticed a lady that we thought we should know, yet none of us was sure Suddenly we remembered Yes, of course it was Phyllis Hawkins She laughingly greeted us and invited us into her private office where she told us about her Job as secretary to the general manager of the store Once again bidding good bye, we returned to the airport where wc found our plane waiting for us Stopping at Fort Xayne, Indiana, at the Frost diner to get our lunch we were waited on by Margaret herself and as cute as ever She had been runnin At last xe were on the home stretch heading back to H L It Sv med good to be back Of course, the first thing we did was to report our trip to all the kids sticking around H L keeping the home fires burn ing The first one we visited was living at the east end of town e found Shirley busily packlng her husband's lunch I bet you couldn't guess who greeted us as we drove up? After looking at the capsule we had drawn, we knew that our first rival was to be Leesville, the 1947-48 league champs. At 11:00 P. M. February 17, we knew where we stood. We had defeated Leesville, 58-55. In the game, Taylor points, Walcutt 9, Bear 8, Spiegel 7, and Lyons 2. like the rest, had played a good game, but had gone fouls in the fourth quarter. Our next game was played with Sulphur Springs. a good lead when we left the floor at the half, but third and last quarter, we failed to keep that lead final buzzer sounded the score was tied, 55-55. In time, we had to play without two of our first five, had 12 Mankey, our on We had in the and as the the over- because they had gone out on fouls in the final minutes After a long three minutes, the game cnded once more, but this time we had a one point lead which moved us up to the finals.
