ff-'WD if! X . lil 5 The football season, even with four losses, was a very successful one when you take into consideration that we played such great teams as Roger Bacon and Elder, two high ranking teams in the state of Ohio, Henry Clay and Ashland, rated eighth and tenth respectively, and Dayton, the top rating team in the state. Perhaps the outstanding spot of the season was the game with Henry Clay. lt had rained all day and the field was wet and muddy. The defense especially sparkled, headed by Cap- tain Weaver. lones' powerful driving led the offense to twelve points. Whether the Bulldogs are mud-dogs or not, they beat the powerful team of Henry Clay l2-0. Although the team was weak early in the season, especially on tackling and blocking, the boys steadily improved until they were a very powerful all-around team at the close of the season. The season ended with the annual foot- ball banquet held on December lU, l949, with Sid Gillman, coach of the Cincinnati Bearcats, as the principal speaker. The picture shown above is one of the many exciting pictures of the season with haliback Bob Hutsell and center Ray Weaver making the initial tackle against the Highland Bluebirds. Also recognized in the back- ground are Blick 6703. Edwards 4817, StePhens 1775, Stevenson 1681, Childress f54J, and McKinney 1781. After a successful year in I949, including the winning of the N.K.A.C. crown, the basket- ball squad of 1950 has striven to keep up the good record. To the right are action shots ot some ot the games which brought many tense moments to the Ians of the Holmes Hoopsters. Basketball is a game ot speed, coordination, ability, and a lot ot ambition. Much hard prac- tice is required to bring out a good basketball team. So let's give a cheer for the Hoopsters .SDCAQCILLZQ Dec. St. Henry Dec. Dayton Dec. Erlanger Lloyd Dec. Simon Kenton Dec.
