The Holmes Baseball nine under Coach Monty McMillan finished the season with a 16-8 record, their best ever. Finishing 8-6 in district, they were in the thick of the race until the ncxt-to-last game. Rate 7th in the final city poll, the Huskies were successful throughout the year. They won the North Loop Tournament with a 4-3 victory over Marshall. Pitching was the strength of the team. Kent Bccraft who was named on the All-District team, pitched against the tough teams and was 5-5 with a great ERA. Lance Carrington ran up a 6-1 record. Other stars arc juniors Ruben Her- rera (OF) and Pat Hernandez (Catch- er), named to the All-District team. Rick Matyc who is also a junior is the leading hitter. 1.
