The Holmes Basketball team had their most successful season ever with a 30-6 record. It was the first 30 win season for the Husky team and gained them a fourth place rating in the city. Holmes was 15 in state. Against the three teams rated higher. Central Catholic. Highlands High and Jefferson the Mighty Huskies posted an impressive 6-2 mark. When the smoke had cleared from district play the Huskies had missed the 31-AAAA championship by two games, cither one of which would have brought the championship to Holmes. The team lost the district playoff game to Jefferson 42-53 in one of the Hus- kies’ poorer efforts of the year. The championship game would not have been necessary had Holmes not been upset 44-45 by Jay in a heart- breaking final game of the first half of the district. The loss gave the first half season crown to Jeff. 46
