Jay Falls 29-21 Holmes shrugged off a 14 point half-time deficit, scoring 23 points in the final two periods to defeat the Jay Mustangs 29-21. After the Huskies claimed a 7-0 lead in the first period on an eight yard touchdown run by Willie McAfee, the Mustangs retaliated with 21 points in the second period. The Huskies came roaring back after the half time break for three touchdowns with Mike Gant and Neil Camp as the key figures in one of the Huskies greatest comebacks in Holmes’ history. Huskies Win Homecoming The Huskies beat their arch rivals the Marshall Rams, 35-28 led by the fine run- ning of Neil Camp, Willie McAfee and Jon Hyde. With 4:51 left in the game, Williams sacked Ram Q.B. on a fourth and four gamble. Neil Camp, using his fine running backs, moved the ball down to the ten and Hyde went over with 2:29 left in the game. The Marshall Rams were not to be denied. The Rams moved down to the Huskies’ seven yard line when Bob Eckert picked off a Ram pass. Mules Kick Holmes 35-21 The Holmes Huskies failed to exe- cute good fundamental football against the Mules and went down in defeat to a greatly improving ball team. Failure to execute on defense was the story of the entire ball game and playing badly throughout the game ended a good year on a sour note.
