Building Trades Building Trades gives Holmes stu- dents, both boys and girls, the oppor- tunity to improve their skills at car- pentry, plumbing, bricklaying, and ca- binetry. This year students who parti- cipated in Building Trades have com- pleted work on a one-family, three-bed- room, two-bath dwelling. Work was started at the beginning of this school year and an open house for the public was held in early April. FIRST ROW: David Sonnen, president; Mr. Scott Monfort, instructor. HOLMES HIGH SCHOO CLASSe V ' ■'e . f •' v V V ' ’ ‘ 'V - . .. .. ' v: 4 During the year of 1974-75 the Elec- trical Trades classes were kept busy with various activities. The Electrical Trades group from Holmes were hosts of the first “Invitational Wiring Tournament”. Schools from all over San Antonio parti- cipated, and Holmes students placed in three of the first five places. Steve Aude took first place in this contest. In the An- nual District Five Skills Olympics, held in Austin, David Ricgal placed first for his Electrical display while Steve Aude once again took first for wiring skill. The Electrical Trades classes also con- tributed to the wiring of the Yukon Days Carnival. As an additional project, the group wired the house built by the trades class. To wind up their year, a banquet was held at Sir George’s Royal Buffet where special awards, trophies, and certificates were presented to outstanding members of the group.
