GEORGE L. WOODFORD, JR. CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS HOLLYWOOD PROFESSIONAL SCHOOL FORMER PRESIDENT, NEWPORT NATIONAL BANK Mr. Woodford was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, July 6, 1921, and moved to Los Angeles in 1923. He attended Dorsey High School where he was student body president. His banking career with Security First National Bank started in 1939. In 1942, he enlisted in the Air Force and saw active duty as a night fighter pilot, instructor and officer in charge of a night tighter squadron from February 1942 to October 1945 and was discharged with the rank of captain. He was recalled during the Korean conflict in March 1951 and was discharged in October of 1952. He now holds the rank of colonel in the reserves. After World War II, he returned to the bank and was selected to attend the Gradu- ate School of Banking at Rutgers University and was graduated in 1960. Extra-curricular activities include: eight years as vice-president and director, Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce, and served as president of Junior Achievement in 1960. Present affiliations include: member of the National Executive Committee of Junior Achievement, Director of University ofCa1ifornia Irvine Foundation, Director and Treasurer Newport Harbor Chamber of Commerce, Director of Big 1 Boosters falso TreasurerJ, Newport Harbor Commodore, member of the Board of Governors Balboa Bay Club, Orange County Independent Bankers Association, U.S. Comptroller of the Currency Regional Independent Advisory Committee, Chairman of Newport Harbor Character Boat Parade 1968. Outstanding Achievement Award: Junior Achievement, Inc., 1963.
