A Tribute to the man who has signed more report cards than any other tea- cher at Hollywood High Schoolg to the athletic coach who has been an inspiriation to Holly- wood's boys and girls since the roaring twenties. In 1916, Mr. Merril Bailey was graduated from high school in a small Iowa town, after serving in the armed forces of the United States during World War I, he entered the teaching profession and came to Hollywood in 1923. A I record-holder himself, Mr. Bailey has transmitted his skill and knowledge to athletes in vir- tually every sport. During his career of almost forty years, Mr. Bailey has produced great performers: champions like Lee Barnes, Olympic title-holder in pole vault and, more recently, Steve Mathews and the Farlow twins. Mr. Baileyis paramount aim has been to help everyone. We can truly say of him that he has shown us how to Achieve the Honorable.
