May it be a memorial to your worthy aims and high endeavors. To the Annual Staff and Sponsor: Congratulations, again, on putting out an outstanding annual. lhave noticed, with satisfaction, the hard work that each of you has done in producing this annual. The student body owes each of you a vote of THANKS for a job well done, for pre- serving for them in pictorial fashion their many pleasant days at Holly Hi. The Board of Trustees and the school faculty join me in the hope that we have been able to give each student something that will help him to enjoy a successful and happy life. lfl may, I should like to give you a bit of my philosophy of life: A willing heart and a willing mind are needed before you can accomplish any true service. A warmness, an earnestness, and an enthusiastic love for your fellow man must be an integral part of your personality before you can honestly make a worth-while contribution to man- kind. With my highest regards for each of you, Xfflf Norman B. McKenzie, Superintendent Mx in-s sf up 5 -4, The Annual Staff 1960 is to be commended for the authentic picture they have given to us at Holly High. This annual publication truly displays the spirit of co-operation and hard work that has gone into its making, and it will ever be aremembrance of school life during 1959 and 1960. All of the faculty and students appreciate your efforts to give us the best annual yet. We want to thank you and to wish you a life that has yet to reach its peak of happiness. Sincerely, Joe F. The football boys are not the only ones that work, the cheer- leaders practice hard to make the cheers perfect and try to keep the boys' spirits up. Although everyone does everything they can it's up to the boys whether they play a good game or not. We can truthfully say our boys played all good games. After the homecoming game there was the homecoming dance. A lot of people in the student body put time and hard work in decorating and making it a success. It was good! The big dance of the year To get the sale of the annuals off with a big bang, the annual staff had an assembly program. It portrayed the different char- acters of Holly Hi and what happened if they forgot to get their annual early. Also to get people to buy annuals we had a guessing contest of how many pieces of corn were in the jar. Dale Pryor was the win- ner of thisg she got a free annual. 4 ' ' , if 5, Q lf l r i . J! During this election you couldn't find any space on the walls in the halls, for all space is filled, no matter how small. As the year comes to a close, classes are supposed to still continue. This is very hard especially to Seniorsg they are thinking of graduation, the senior trip, and sunning at the lake. As you can see it's very hard to have class around Holly Hi the last few weeks. Is this what you call class concentration? Whose portrait? iff . 'YT' - so 5 O'- -. .in v The last walk! The 1959 Tiger squad will be remem- bered, not for the games they won or lost, but for their team spirit and desire to work harder when all seemed lost. This attitude and the fine leadership of Co-Captains Mike Smith and Jimmy Palmer gave each Tiger a personal satisfaction that many all- winning teams are lacking. Trainer, Nat Brooks, Manager, Larry LaFever, and Coach, Melvin Wells. We are indeed proud of our 1959-60 boys' basketball team. Their record of wins may not be as impressive as the girls', but they really made tremendous improvement during the season. From a rather discouraged second-rate team, they evolved into a high-spirited winning aggregation of disciplined, well- coached, confident ball players. Credit is due the boys and, of course, Mr. Wells, who was able to steer the team through the most successful season they have enjoyed in several years. In Chickasaw Conference, after defeating the top-ranked teams, our boys won second place, bowing only to Water Valley. Coach and team members are anticipating a rewarding season next year. Ed- win Street, a senior, is the only player who will not return. The boys are ex- pecting to earn several trophies to set beside the one they were awarded for Chickasaw play this year.
