Class History We hitched our wagon to a star and started our long iourney upward toward amateur success. lt all started in September of l94l. To some it may have gotten better as time went on, to others it may have gotten worse. We all have had our hard kicks and knocks, but as we look back, each in his own way, we feel it was worth while. The path grew a little rougher as we came around a curve into the ninth grade. Eddie Moyers lead our group, with Lee Harding as his helper. Melvin McKeachie took care of our money problems and Eleanor Tindall mailed our letters. Mr. and Mrs. Yaggy were our advisors. Our big social affair was the 'Half 'n' Half.' Everyone felt we were really going places when we became sophomores. We received our rings and the Spring Frolic topped off the year. Bill Wagoner was president, with Jack Gmelich as his Veep. Elsie Highfield was treasurer and Melvin McKeachie was secretary. t Soon the year was over and then we became Juniors. Melvin McKeachie presided, with Chuck Samuels as his helper. Jerry Dexter was secretary and Pat Stiles treasurer. As juniors we were in charge of the Junior-Senior Breakfast, which was a gala affair. We also lent a helping hand by participating in the Junior-Senior Prom. Mr. Froberg and Miss Tufer were our advisors. Oh yes, we mustn't forget 'Gramercy Ghost', our play. It was a box-office hit.. . . . Our wagon was getting rickety, but the star was getting closer. As seniors, James Blumenschein was top man, with La Dene Stone sharing his duties. Glenda Burkhardt was secretary and Pat Stiles our budget maker. During the fall and winter, gowns were ordered and pictures were taken. The seniors also presented the play, 'Button Button.' The month of May held for all seniors a number of memorable events: the Junior-Senior Prom, Senior Skip Day, Senior Tell Tales early arrival, and our trip to New York. Need anymore be said? Then, on June lO, the star was reached. The class of l953 had arrived!
