It has been a distinct pleasure for me to observe your progress from first grade to graduation I have seen your friendships develop. and I believe that the friends of school days are often among our closest and best. But now you are leaving that some- what select group and are at the doors of Commencement. which never was a time of finishing. but rather a time of be- ginning, an entrance today into a world dominated by war, fear. distrust and uncertainty. We adults are not proud of the world and its society, into which we invite you to enter. We have failed. We want you to help straighten out the chaotic condition. You possess ideas and ideals, clear and unpreiudiced. You have energy. and I hope you will be motivated by a desire to to help all mankind. When the last lap plane has been grounded and the last Nazi submarine has been sunk. your help will be need- ed to build anew a world in which the ideals of democracy can develop and bear fruit. I want you to realize that you are regarded as being very important individuals. You must not disappoint those who have faith in you. Opportunities are beckoning to you. Such success as you attain will be due to your own efforts. Your parents have written your last excuse. You will find life very exacting and no alibis will be accepted. But there are two groups who be- lieve in you your parents and your teacher s. Put forth an effort to always do as well as R. H. BRAVENDER. Superintendent. I i l lf
