Through Executive Council, composed of popularly nominated and elected representatives and oflicers, the students have a voice and an opportunity to assume their share of the responsibility in all campus activities. Because it is the privilege of each Hollins girl to contribute to the growth of this government, the council has wished each girl to feel that her discussion, constructive criticism, and suggestions are both helpful and necessary. It was, therefore, one ofthe cOuncil's primary aims this year to foster this feeling. Other aims were to extend and to spread responsibility through additional representatives to House Board, to review the recording and election systems, and to institute a system of popular nominations for all class and student governmentbofhces. If passed by the committee and approved by President Randolph, new laws are drafted into the body of student regulations. Both faculty and students compose the membership of this committee. This court is composed of a chairman and representatives from each of the four classes. All members of Honor Court are nominated and elected by the student body. Honor Court has original jurisdiction over the academic rules and the regula- tions concerning drinking, smoking, places of recreation, driving, dean's slips, overnight absences and the rules regarding Lexington, Charlottesville, and Blacks- burg. Honor Court also decides cases referred to it by House Board. After con- sidering a particular case, Honor Court issues a penalty in keeping with the circumstances involved. Vice Prefident of Freshman Clan The jurisdiction of House Board extends over cases arising from violations which do not come under the jurisdiction of Honor Court. The purpose of House Board is to consider these cases, to administer comparatively set penalties, and to refer to Honor Court cases of serious or chronic offenders. This year, House Board added rotating delegates, elected from each dormi- tory, to serve as ex officio members for the period of three months. This innovation was put into effect in order to make more students familiar with the functioning of the Board. E851 'Me M46 r l I 'YI' Y Freya MOLLY FINN. . . . . ....
