We can look back with certainty to the failur s'and achievements of the first half. Our chief concern, however, is with the last half - that portion of the twentieth century yet to come. To you and millions of our youth now in school lies the opportunity to take the key of knowledge and un- lock the door that leads to the future. What the last half of the twentieth century holds in store for us may depend upon the way you use the great opportunity which is your heritage. We cannot undo the past fifty years for they are now recorded as history. Let us make our goal for the next fifty years one of progress and achievement in order that the world will have gained something for our having lived in it. Sincerely, R. M. Kerr
