senuor Illsiory T was on a day early un September l940 that I along wuth my mother other chuldhood fruends and enemues started school My mother proudly took me by the hand and walked up to Muss Quakenbush, the teacher Other mothers wuth theur dear luttle chuldren were there Around that specual curcle one could hear such thungs as Mrs D Andrea sayung Is that your luttle boy'7 My Mrs Preston, your luttle gurl certaunly fakes after you un looks, doesn t she'7 Mrs Gaylord what pretty curls Joan has Are they natura Yes each mother was exclaumung over each chuld and wonderung how each would turn out At last the mothers had gone and we were left alone wuth the teacher to start the dauly task of learnung As the years went by we passed from grade to grade, each day buuldung up our store of knowledge about the world around us When we reached the suxth grade Muss McAlluster was there to greet us wuth a hearty smule of wel come In thus grade we organuzed a club called the Busy Bees We also wrote a song to sung at each of our club meetungs Whule un thus grade we dud quute a few memorable thungs such as makung candy and sellung ut for Red Cross Benefut puttung on a Thanksguvung Socual Studues Play, and takung part un the annual operetta At the end of the year we receuved our report cards statung that we were now eluguble for the seventh grade When we started un the seventh grade the followung September we found that there were quute a few addutuons to our already large class But we welcomed those kuds wuth a smule and a shy hello Whule un thus grade Mrs Ennus, our class advusor helped us put on our furst munstrel show and she dad a very good 'ob We, also had our furst offucual class meetung and elected offucers for the year It was at one of our meetungs that we decuded that we wanted to make some money so we put on a socual hour It was also un thus grade that we got our furst lockers wuth real locks Then we went unto the eughth grade wuth Mr DeCarlo as our class advusor We put on a socual hour and sold statuonery whuch proved profutable When we were freshmen we had Mrs Tuce for our class advusor We had another socual hour whuch was gettung to be an annual affaur at the school wuth the hugh school crowd In order to make a luttle more money we sold Chrustmas cards and wroppung paper We made quute a but of money doung that, tool Then we went unto the sophomore homeroom wuth Muss Latta as our class advusor It was thus year that the boys started eyeung the gurls and puckung out a 'steady unless we already had one ln thus grade we had a socual hour put on the alumnu banquet, and an amateur show Yes, our treasury was bunldung up so that we could go to Washungton when we were senuors! Last year as lunuors we had a socual hour and a Junuor Prom wuth the Fay Thompson Combo Now at last we re senuors on our way to Washungton!
