HAIL TO SUMMER '5'I Hail to Summer Fifty One, The greatest class yet! The kids, the teachers, and the school Helped us to get An education, and lots of fun And all the assemblies too. The parties and the dances, They were really nice, The swats and the lectures Emphasized good advice. And so we thank the teachers And all who helped us to Go on to our high school, Where we'll do the best we can do. Ronald Fel handl er V I7 X r fqjiziilfgfl. 'Sl X ll M' vb. 9 ' SENIOR "A" ACTIVITIES For two and one half years, from B7's to A9's we slaved. Every minute of the time we had our noses to the grindstone with one thought in mind. GRADUATION! To be an A9. Ah---the life ofa king! Parties, dances, snapshots, assemblies and elect- ions., But that wasn't all. We had to start worrying about dues, listening to lectures, working on B10 programs, and doing home- work. That was the worst part. Ugh! But we had fun anyway, for we were finally A9's. Very soon after the beginning of the semester, practically all over the campus the A9's could be heard yelling, "Would you sign my petition?" For you see if had come time to elect A9 officers. ln a few days the new officers were detennined, and they were: Takeo Akasaki-President, Ray Delgado-Vice President lkuko Yoshida4Secretary, Louis Carrozzi and Emi Tsuruta-cheer leaders. Then we had our motto and color'votes. We chose as our motto, "We, the youth of today will guide the world of tomorrow" and as colors we had Royal Blue and White. Louis Delgado designed our emblem and soon after we had our Emblem Party. Everyone thought it was the best ever, land it wasl. But between the voting and the party we had snapshot day. fOr the day of the breaking camerasll Very soon after that the greatgeniuses of Hollenbeck submitted words and music for A9 songs. The farewell song was chosen to the tune of "Would I Love You?", written by Annette Pavaloff and Pauline Chavez, and the color song to "Zing Zing, Zoom Zoom" by Elissa Nuch and Mildred Mallis. Then came the Emblem Party. The theme was a cruise in spring and everyone had a good time aboard the S. S. Hol lenbeck. Refreshments and dancing followed. The A9 noon dances followed, topped off by the Farewell dance. Marching practice began and before we knew it we were cross-. ing the stage to receive our diplomas. Hollenbeck, we'll never forget you.
