I arr1ved on the c1rcus grounds and found myself 1n the crowd of care free eople In the mam tent the crowd was suddenly hushed as a dark lady are back rider led a group of performers 1nto the r1ng The group enterta1ned the crowd w1th many breath tak1ng and marvelous stunts and the dark ha1red 1rl who led the processmn was the star of the show Toward the end o the act she shd off the horse and mana ed to catch the horse's ta1l The crowd roared w1th lau hter and d1 n't know 1f lt was part of the act or not She looked aw ully fam1l1ar to me Somehow she seemed like someone I knew I dec1ded to go mn search of the bare back r1der and dxscovered lt was V1r 1n1a Cam bell from Hollandale I V1S1t8d V1rg1n1a for a wh11e and le t P1erre ater that evenmg for Ch1cago Wh1le go1ng down State Street 1n Chlcago, one sultry afternoon I came ac ross a bu1ld1ng w1th a large w1ndow In the wmdow hun a Slgn Wh1Ch read, Ruth's Model1n School and Beaut Salon Ruth olden Proprletor Why I knew uth and I dec1ded t IS would be a wonder ful opportumty to see her U on enter1ng the bu1ld1ng I saw Ruth m the head She was apparentl try1ng to teach a group of gn-ls how to walk properly Ruth and I ha a long v1s1t She told me about her career and how 1nterest1ng It was As I neared Hollandale I dec1ded I'd go through Monroe As I got there lt was Just my luck to have a flat t1re After chang1n the t1re I glanced up and saw a dar11n l1ttle wh1te house w1th rosebus es c11mb mg here and there I dec1 ed to ask 1f I could wash my hands The door was opened 1n a response to my knock and there stood a blonde woman 1n a pretty dress and a spotless wh1te apron Wh lt was the former Moya Marshall At her heels were two l1ttle be ls tugg1n at the1r mother s apron Moya told me she was wa1t1ng for the arr1va of her husband who was a 11eutenant 1n the army After v1s1t1ng Moya for about an hour I agam headed for Eastman That mght I was f1nally home t1red but happy My Journey had come to a wonderful end!
