'A' Q1 S 5 Rl is Z I Qyuf Q' enior Cfaad .Mdforg 4f I 3 ew 'J-x X x On September 3, l9'+6, nineteen green and noisy freshmen followed one another up the stairs of Hollandale High School to mark the beginning of their high school careers Among them were Robert Anderson, Alice Anderson, Wilbert Blaser, Mona Burns Mickey Darrow, Neil Gilbertson, Billy Hoffman, Sammy James, Sammy Hughes, Lois Klosterman, Wilma Marty, B111 Nelson, Claire Olson, Walter Reynolds, Louise Runden, Carl Schneider, Robert Severson, Walker Skaife, and Florence Walstad The new teachers this year were Mr Bausman, Miss Saether and Mrs Holzer The freshmen were all weak in the knees for the first ten days of school because initiation was scheduled for Friday, the 13th All survived the ordeal, however, and after performing their stunts, they enjoyed an evening of dancing and eating af? 129 Q 'gi-9 'f s 7 31+ Y qc, 3- O 7 ' - 9 O Q N If . '- Q - :.' - S J cbt 1 mi U0 Class officers for the year were Lois Klosterman President, Mona Burns, Vice President, and Sammy James Secretary Treasurer Mona and Lois were elected cheer leaders Our class advisor was Miss Saether Robert Severson, Carl Schneider, and Mona Burns went out for forensics, with Carl going on to the district meet Alice Anderson dropped out during the year, making the class an even eighteen in number On September 8, l9l+'7 the group returned to Hollandale High School to begin their sophomore year, minus Claire Olson and Sammy Hughes who transferred to Blanchardville, and Florence Walstad who dropped out During the year Lois Klosterman was again elected President of the class, while Robert Severson was chosen Vice President and Neil Gilbertson, Secretary Treasurer The teachers this year were Mr Lefler, Mr O'Hearn and Miss Bassett Mr O'Hearn was our class advisor Carl Schneider was the only one who went out for forensics The contest was held in Blanchardville, but Carl was sick the day of the contest so he couldn't compete Lois and Mona were also cheerleaders this year Mona Burns, Bob Severson, and Neil Gilbertson took part in the league contest play, I'm a Fool The play was presented in Argyle, but failed to win 8 .Y 1 : , i . . , O Wilma Marty moved to Barneveld. 2Sxx'L n ,., P5 'Q when we returned to school on Sept 7, l9N8, we were all set for our big Junior Year Two more of our classmates were gone, Bill Hoffman, who moved to Mt Horeb, and Bill Nelson, who went to Mineral Point B M Band and Home Economics were added this year, with Mrs Thompson teaching band and Mrs Anderson teaching home econo mics Mr Crawford, Mr Nodolf, and Miss Hayes were also new teachers Class officers for the year were Mona Burns, President, Louise Runden, Vice President, and Lois Klosterman, Secretary Treasurer Mr Nodolf was our class advisor November llth was a big day for us because it was the day we received our class rings We were all proud as we picked our own ring out of the box And we are still proud of the rings that bear the mark of Hollandale High School our Junior Prom The Community Building was decorated in purple and white, our school colors Lilacs and iris were used to carry out the theme Lois Klosterman, Louise Runden, and Helen Anderson were in the queen's court Marion Peter son carried the crown that was made of red and white roses At 10 15 the grand march was led by Mona Burns, the queen, and Robert Anderson, the king After the grand march we all nced as Hal Mac played our theme song, Deep Purplen Because of our misfortune, on Sept 12th 1949 as we re turned for our Senior year, we took our places in the Commun ity Building All members of the class returned, with th addition of one new student, Gerald McGinnity ' All teachers came back with the exception of Miss Hayes Miss Schuh took her place 9 Y . . . f ,H On May 22nd the big event of the year took place-- cgi? uf' da H , . -1 , Elf 1 Class officers elected were: Carl Schneider, Presidentg Mona Burns, Vice Presidentg and Lois Klosterman, Secretary- - -f' I Treasurer. Mr. Crawford was our class advisor. 'wexzffvgwg Ea Al play for the contest We chose a tragedy, 'The Valiant' H ing Seniors, this was our year to put on the one act On December 2nd the Seniors had their Homecoming, with Belleville playing Hollandale Despite the loss of the game, the evening was a success Several door prizes were donated by the business men to be given away at the dance Lois dropped out of cheerleading this year, so Mona was the only Senior cheerleader representing our school At the Blanchardville game the Seniors sponsored a candy sale and took in a total of S7 O3 Our Senior class play, which was presented early in February, was a comedy entitled 'Just Ducky' Miss Schuh directed it In December we picked out our announcements and name cards We also ordered new caps and gowns We chose the American beauty rose as our class flower, navy, red, and gold as our colors, and 'Let Arms Yield to the Gown' as our motto It is with much regret that the Seniors are planning to aureate services will be held on May 21st and Commencement Exercises on May 26th '-4 !0 ik., .K Xe' X477 say good-bye to Hollandale High School this spring. Junior Gilbertson, Gerald Peterson, Ann Lord Charles Sigg CBack Rowj Richard Jackson, Harvey Frye, Mr Nodolf, Advisor LLIILIZPJ On September 7, 1947 the Class of '51 entered the Hollandale High School as Freshmen They were Junior Gilbertson, Gerald Peterson, Charles Sigg, Harvey Frye, Richard Hoffman, Shirley Nelson, Betty Marty, Ann Lord, Dorothy Marty, and Lois Schwartz Charles was elected President, Harvey was Vice President, and Shirley was Secretary Treasurer Miss Bassett was our advisor In l9h8 only Harvey, Junior, Charles, and Gerald returned for their Sophomore year The other students transferred to other schools Mary Trainor and Richard Jackson Joined the class later in the year This year Harvey was chosen President, Charles was Vice President and Gerald was Secretary Treasurer Mr Nodolf was our class advisor In the fall of l91+9 Charles, Junior, Gerald, Harvey, Richard, and Ann Lord, who returned after a year in another school, started their Junior year in Hollandale High School. They were: Helen Palskill, Idain McCarville, and Geraldine McGinnity. Officers chosen were: President, Bruce Bollerudg Vice President, Maynard Swenson, Sec retary-Treasurer, Helen Palskill. Ronald Doran and Idain McCarville were elected to serve on the Student Council and Moya Marshall was chosen as a Judge on the Student Court. Other schools that were in the contest were Argyle, Blanchardville, and Orfordville. Miss Hugenin of the Platteville State Teachers College staff was the Judge. On November 17th the play was presented in the district contest at Platteville, winning a MCH rating. Mrs. Louise Anderson is the instructor for the group, which consists of eighteen girls. All of the girls participate in pro- jects such as skirts, blouses, aprons, clothes pin bags, pajamas, pillow cases, dresses, etc. Many of the girls have made things that they are now wearing. Sev- ll Z?a4Aef4af Hollandale's Panthers experienced a season that was far from being successful, winning only one conference game up to the time of this writing. Despite very crowded and somewhat inconvenieit conditions, we have put in what we feel is one of our most successful years in the Hollandale Graded School Although we are still under a super time in our history We are now classed as a state graded school with the increased enrollment in the lower grades this year, have an assistant teacher, Mrs Skaife, in that department Ou total enrollment is 56 pupils We have taken an active part in all scnool activities this year including a Thanksgiving program for the P T A and the Christmas program Our basketball team has played several teams from other schools 28 .
