We have chosen HOT RODDERS as our theme not only because of the present popularity of sport cars, but also because it represents to us a sign of our times, the age into which we were born, the age of speed and the pride in our speed, To the older generation we give a warning that we are coming of age. To our younger friends, we say with all modesty and humility--watch our dust! Football 1955 We opened our third season in the Mid-State Conference league with a veteran backfield and a rather green line. The opening game with Ilion was a non-league game and a real battle resulted, but H.P. won, '7-6, in the first football meeting between our schools. Another highlight was our win over Sauquoit Valley which was played in about 3 inches of water and mud and in a steady downpour. Co-captain Karl Maxwell, 200 pound fullback led our running attack, with help from Butch Stevener, Tom Dreitzler, Dick Bartholomew, and Jerry Elphick. Mike Ryan quarterbacked our team and helped our passing game. In the line, co-captain John Putnam, at end, and guard, Irv Hobin, led the way with help from other linemen John Rielly, Jim Campbell, and Bob Sperry at tackles, Franny White at guard, John Coleman at center and Bill Clark at end. With 5 wins and 5 losses it has come in third place in the league. Mr. Caliel and Mr. Warden should be congratulated for their great work because without it there would not be any team. A few of the outstanding wrestlers that they have trained are: ,T oe Robenski who has been undefeated. Bob Anderson and F red Robenski who have a good record. Francis White had the most pins for the season. Vern Bartholomew and Tom Dreitzler also had a great season. Even with the loss ofBob,.T oe, and Fred, Mr, Caliel seems very optimistic about next seasons outcome, with the help of Tom Dreitzler, Vern, Fran, Tom Millson, and the others. C. Berg. .T.Owens,B. A REMINDER Ten little hot rods starting in a line One passed a red light then there were nine. Nine little hot rods roaring past the gate One hit the century mark, then there were eight. Eight little hot rods dreaming all of heaven One really got there, then there were seven. Seven little hot rods gunning o'er the sticks One watched a pretty girl, then there were six. Six little hot rods, glad they're all alive One passed on a hill, then there were five. Five little hot rods, speeding with a roar One missed a curve, then there were four. Four little hot rods, off on a spree One had too much to drink and then there were three. Three little hot rods speeding off in the blue One fell sound asleep then there were two. Two little hot rods having lots of fun One thought he knew it all then there was one. One little hot rod driving safe and sound Follows all the safety rules that's why he's still around. 504 at your Pictures, stories newstand, or maps, and in Thruway Planning A Trip on the Thruway?
