IJ M 5555 m - t . 1 f f f fs , M' v '-'Lf.A .- e '.-f' r , ',- ' I g ACTIVITIES Our activities have been many and varied this year. Our first big occasion was the Carnival. There were several con- sessions which everyone enjoyed. The big event of the evening was the crowning of the Holland High , Junior High, and Elemen- tary school queen. The elementary queen and king were Wanda Mae Samford and William Bryant. The Junior high queen and king were Carlean Kenley and Jerry Booker. Queen of high school was Anne Samford crowned by the king, James Reed Hicks. Another high light of the year was the Christmas Party. The gifts were distributed, then refreshments were served. Afterwards they danced. Next on our list of events was our New Year's Eve dance, which everyone enjoyed. Later on our basketball games started. Our first big social was our home-coming game and the crowning of the Holland Basket- ball Queen, who was Loita Pinkston Singleton. She was crowned by the Captain of the boys' basketball team, James Parrish. After the games all the players were served refreshment by the Home Economics Department. Then they went to the gym where they danced until midnight. . IP The Box Supper came next, and was given by the F F A Boys. To ' and this occasion all the girls brought boxes. For the entertainment, 5 j they had a baby contest in which there were several contestants. g Y' Rita Karea Pritchard was the first place winner, and received the i h silver cup. Judy Jenkins was the second place winner. Sara Ann Q If Brown received honorable mention. The boxes were auctioned off and 4- 'i the cake walks followed immediately. Afterwards the lovely boxes . 45 were opened, and all enjoyed the delicious food. The Box Supper 3 N: proved both profitable and enjoyable. ' 1- ,. IQ Our biggest event, in which the whole school cooperated, was ' gr The Masquerade Ball which was held in honor of Washington's Birth- , I? day. There was much variety in the choice of costumes. Indians, 1 42 negrces, gypsies, hoboes, hoola-hoola girls, and Martha and Georgel 1 It Washington presented a quite colorful evening. Joan Worrell took Q AQ top honor as the most original and best dressed among the girls. 3 'g She was dressed as a hobo. Jerry Byassee, as a negro, took first an T ,y. ,f place among the boys. There were games which everyone enjoyed. fzhv ?Mi Q Refreshments were served during the evening. Everyone reported 1'J,Qiw5i,f' ,F such a good time that it was decided to make the Masquerade Ball g5fY'xf1yQ, 'Q an annual event. Next year we expect more variety, and lovelier gig :g,g in costumes because the students will have more time to get them ready. I sig? ' I 3 I . 1 The Barn Warming was mother big event given by the F F A. Ig The entertainment was given by the F F A members and part of the ' Q5 audience.
