Student Council raised nearly 55400.00 from the various activities and donated this money to The Bethany Children's Home in Grand Rapids.

Homecoming 1976 took place the week of October 18-22. Co-chairman Kim Douma and Barb Feininger, assisted by sub-chairmen, organized the week of activities including the two powder puff games. First the Sophs. defeated the jrs. with a score of 8-6. Then the Soph. vs. Seniors game with the Seniors on top. Also a bonfire sponsored by Varsity Service Club, a pie-eating contest with the court members, and a reception for the court. Friday there was a pep rally along 8th Street featuring bands, floats, the court, and a cheering crowd. At half time coronation took place and after the game there was a dance in the fieldhouse. A. The Senior class wins float competition by a narrow margin. B. Leading the Pep Rally to Riverview park is the band. C. Queen Lisa Beyer and escort Bill Derks enjoy the football game. D. The class of VT E. The champion Senior Powder Puff team poses for a photo. F. And the Eagles were the first to fall. G. The Sophs. surprise thejrs. in their Powder Puff game. H.-Ir. class float takes second. 4 I. And the Sophomores place Std. -I. HHS. bands at half-time.

C Christmas Week was a new project spon- sored by Student Council. The week was planned and organized by committees with Nancy Dirkse serving as chairman. The com- mons were decorated. Throughout the week each ward collected food for a food basket to be donated to a needy family. There were out- door activities planned also. These included: a tug-of-war between the classes and a dog-sled race. A bakesale was held featuring Christmas goodies. The grand finale of the week was a dance marathon held on Saturday. Fourteen couples participated in the marathon and 15 of them finished 4 dancing 14 V2 hours. The couples were judged during the last half hour to determine the winners. Liz Bland and Ray Lopez took first place.
