Since the earliest times, men have wondered and reioiced to see the seasons slowly pass-unchanged, timeless, glorious in their variety and color. They have given to each season its descriptive name, they have written and sung of the seasons, and around each season they have built traditions, memories, associations, and pictures. To each student at Holland High, the school year of i958-59 has been filled with learning and growing, new experiences and discoveries, joy and sadness, fun and hard work-all the events that are woven into the rich, colorful fabric of life. Through that cloth run the threads of the seasons. Autumn's gold and ochre were woven around the tense excitement of the kick-off and the rollicking songs from Oklahoma. Winter's cold white and leaden grey were cheered by the rosy-cheeked gaiety of the skaters on Lake Macatawa and the small, warm world of the classroom when the wind drove furious sleet against the frosted windows. Spring's soft green, pushing through dark, rain-soaked earth, ushered in the last feverish whirlwind of activity-the spring formal, elections, exams, and graduation. As the seasons have colored and shaped our experiences, we have let them color and shape our book, to produce a composite story of YOUR year at Holland High.
