Counselors Mrs. Brieve, Miss Wiskamp, Mr. Connell and Mr. Borlace look over the tile of a student. Holland Public School System The Administrative Council met monthly and is responsible for the over- all operation of the school system. The council served as a co-ordination group to bring to the entire council an understanding and appreciation of the specific problems of the individual schools. The council carried out its suggested policies by their administrative report to the Board of Education. Senior High counselors, Miss Gladys Wiskamp and Mr. Robert Connell and Junior High counselors, Mrs. Brieve and Mr. Earl Borlace have had a closer contact with the students. They counsel individuals who have health or personal problems. They were also in charge of various testing programs throughout the year. Their work with helping students select and prepare for college and careers often included reference letters and iob placement. The Administrative Board regulates the policies concerning the school. Pictured are, left to right: Mr. Scott, Miss Wislcamp, Miss Bishop, Mr. Scholten, Mr. Shearer, Mr. Formsma, Mr. Donivan, and Mr. Prins. Not pictured are Mr. Schipper, and Mr. Connell. 1

Mr. Formsma, the principal of Holland High, and Mr. Scott, the Superintendent of Schools, are busy keeping the school run- ning smoothly. They have solved many problems caused by increased enrollment and limited space. Administration Efficiently Heads The administration of the Holland Public Schools was well known for the outstanding educational pro- gram they directed. The administration was led by the Board of Education, which was responsible for the total operation of the school district. The Board tried to carry out a school program that was agreeable to the citizens and that best met the educational needs of students. Working closely with the Board of Education was the Superintendent of Schools, Walter W. Scott, who carried out the policies of the Board and was re- sponsible for the entire school system. He also was in charge of the complete instructional program and busi- ness aspects of the system. A familiar person in our halls was our principal, Jay W. Formsma, who had com- plete charge of Senior High School. His work included several administrative duties, supervising the faculty, and providing a satisfactory curriculum. Dedicated trustees comprise our Board of Education. They are, front row, left to right, Mr. Hallen, Mr. Arendshorst, Mr. Donivan, Mrs. Hornbaker, Mr. Plewes, Mr. Cook. Back row: Mr. Miles, Mr. Frissel, Mr. Andreasen, Mr. Scott. with
