Dedication We, the class of 1940, wish to dedicate this Boomerang to our genial friend and ad- viser, Dr. E. E. Fell, who for thirty years has been superintendent of the Holland Public Schools. During this time both senior and junior high school, and the Washington grade school were built. Firm in his conviction that the school must meet the demands of individual differences, he was instrumental in adding many new departments in both the elementary and secondary schools. Twenty-seven years ago he helped organ- ize our student government which has made us known throughout the state. Dr. Fell has long been recognized as a leading educator. In 1925-1926 he was chairman of the Fourth District of the Michigan Education Association. The year following, he became the president of the State Association. He has also served as president of the Michigan School Superin- tendent and School Board Members Asso- ciation. Seeking always to unite the community and the school, Mr. Fell has been a pro- moter of local and state-wide Parent-Teacher Associations. Education, to him, is far more comprehensive than intellectual learning, however important that may be. He has fostered the growth of the whole person- ality, believing that such growth is funda- mental to the development of happy and useful citizens. Upon his completion of twenty-live years of work in our city, Hope College con- ferred upon him an honorary L. L. D. Not only is Dr. Fell prominent in edu- cational circles, but he has given distin- guished service in many capacities to his church, and to the community. In recognition and appreciation of all of these services we dedicate this book to him.
