This senior play rivaled the plays of all years and played to four large audiences. The cast of this play was especially well adapted to its nine particular roles, says Miss Lindsley, the coach, and, perhaps this accounts for the group's splendid character portrayal and interpretation of clever lines. The heavy roles of Pa and Ma Heller were carried by james Boter and Angelyn Van Lente, whose constant bickering proved to be a source of much amusement for the audience. The children of the family were seventeen-year-old Willie, Earnest Tirrell, twelve-year-old Annabelle, Athalie Roestg and the sweet twenty-one-year-old daughter Louise, Marie Dalman. These five composed the family upstairs. Louise Heller's young love, Charles Grant, was none other than our own La Verne Scheerhorn. The part of his mother, Mrs. Grant, was taken by Lois Geerds, and the role of his younger brother Herbert was carried by Eitel Eberhardt. The talkative dressmaker, Miss Calahon, commonly known as Gertrude Meengs, was a most interesting old maid Those who saw this play say that they will never forget the lazy Willie, the sassy Annabelle, the lovely Louise, the nagging Ma, nor the good old Pa Heller. The proceeds of the project were used entirely as funds for the pub- ic, 'lx N lishing of this annual. The program consisted of two plays and a pantomime. F V A comedy, The Florist Shop, was directed by Miss Leona Zimmerman of the I X 1 ' 5 English department, and was the first on the evening's program. The cast of five con- f Q . sisted of Lucille Buter, Dorothy Stelcetee, Earnest Tirrell, james Botor, and Victor Notier. X 3' ' V The audience responded with great enthusiasm at the completion of the act, which was .f Q . . f x f-3, , M KQJ X-. ji. gl tx sufhcient proof of its success. The next was a burlesque on false cultivation entitled, Buying Culture. Its char- lg acters were Angelyn Van Lente, Lois Geerds, and Floyd Otteman. Miss Evelyn Steketee f successfully directed this play. The pantomime Wanted: A Wife, directed by Miss Hazel De Meyer, librarian, was also a great success. The characters were Minne Marie Dalman, Gertrude Meengs, i Frank Westra, and Charles Bertsch. 'iw These three performances formed a splendid evenings entertainment for the audi- ence which consisted of a completely filled auditorium of students and many elders. Miss Lindsley, director of the Senior Play, picked many of the members of the casts for the Senior Play from the casts of the various council presentations. Approximately one hundred and thirteen dollars were cleared at the gates on the only evening of the program's presentation.
