A Light of Days to Come for us Thou art, O School, for aye, And all whose shining path is marked Up Learning's golden way. GWQIDGWOIDGWQIDGNWIDGWOYDGWOYDGWGWOVDGWWYDGNQYDGWOYDGWOYDGWOYD SENIORS 1951 - HOLLAND HIGH SCHOOL National Honor Society EARLY every high school student has the ambition to be presented with a torch pin, the emblem of the National Honor Society. Every year fifteen per cent of the members are chosen from the honor roll of the graduating class as members of this organization. The members are selected because of their character, scholarship, leadership and service. Holland High School organized as a branch of the National Honor Society of Sec- ondary Schools in 1925. Since that time many other schools have organized chapters, thereby making it a greater honor for students to become members of the society. The fact that a person is a member of this organization does not give him honor only in high school but after he graduates he is able to get a better position or it helps to give him a firmer footing at college. The society is created not merely to honor the members for past services but to en- courage them for future undertakings. So they light the torch as a pledge of increased devotion to the pursuit of knowledge and growth in wisdom g they bear the torch as a token of enthusiasm for the attainment of unsullied character g they lift the torch as a symbol of desire to render service to our God, our country and our fellowmenug and they fling the torch to hands outstretched as a challenge to other lives to 'keep the faith'. Holland High School is the only school to have an Alumni Association. Thus, the friendships are not forgotten but are renewed at the yearly meetings where the good old high school days are brought to mind. llll
