Coach Charles Brown began preparations for this year's squad as early as last spring in a conditioning program which was continued over the summer in a weight lifting program until football camp at Camp Paddle Trails, August 21. Yale, Sperry, OMA, and Dallas Greenhill were the Dutchmen's first four victims as they outscored the opposition 90-6. St. Stephen's inflicted the only loss of the season on a road-weary Dutchmen, 21-12, at Austin. The Dutchmen lacked their usual aggressive- ness in Austin, but this loss helped to provide the impetus for one of Holland Hall's biggest football victories ever, against Casady, the next weekend. The Dutchmen defeated Casady's Cyclones, 38-22, in an awesome display of powerful offence and aggressive defence. This marked the first HH Varsity football victory over Casady. Union provided no contest the next weekend as HH spoiled their homecoming festivities, 28-12. Cascia Hall defeated Holland Hall, 26-O, last season, and this unhappy reminder sparked the Dutchmen to a convincing 30-7 win over the angry Commandoes. The '68 Dutchmen left their mark statistically on every team they faced. Coach Brown summed up the feelings of the whole school when he said, This team has meant more to me than anyone will ever know. l've worked with these seniors lBass, Gibbs, Maddox, Meyer, Thomasl for three years now, and we've learned a lot together. my Q IJ if V, ,E, ,M 'fm 1 Junior Quarterback Jeff Moore led Holland Hall s passing attack against Yale in season opener, completing 7 passes for 115 yards and 2 touchdowns. 2. Junior Tailback Dave Rossetti drives for hard earned yardage in the satisfying victory over Cascia. 5. Senior Fullback Charles Gibbs achieved a first for Holland Hall football this year. He received recognition from both the Tulsa Tribune and the Tulsa World as both Back and Lineman of the Week following his outstanding performance against Casady. 6. Senior Co-Captains Bill Bass and Steve Thomas starred in Holland Hall's exciting 12-6 defeat of Sperry. The victory became more prestigious as Sperry went on to the finals of the state Class C football championship. 7. Gibbs and Thomas ended their football careers at Holland Hall on a brillant note, leading the Dutchmen to a convincing 30-7 victory over Cascia Hall, avenging last year's 26-O defeat. 48 N f I e 1' 1.
