FARE THEE WELL On September 25, 1945, amidst the appropriate 'pomp and ceremony' of the Freshman Reception, the future class of 1947 was initiated into the activities of Christian High. Since that time they have matured considerably, and, as a class are aptly finding their place in many fields of activity at school. This quotation from The Footprints of 1944 was interesting to me because I noted with pleasure the rapid progress and growth made by the Freshmen of 1943 in a year's time according to your reporter. It has been my privilege to be a witness of your development and growth only during your last year as students in Holland Christian High School. I am glad that I have had the opportunity of learning to know most of you by name and many of you because of your excellent scholarship and by the evidences of your good citizenship. 1 am sorry that our acquaintance has been of such short duration. Now the time has come to bid you farewell. Associations as superintendent and students, which have been for the most part pleasant ones, must of necessity come to an end. However, I sincerely hope that you will continue to be active members of the Alumni Association so that we may meet again from time to time to renew our acquaintance. My closing words to you are those which I used when I greeted you and the other students on the first school day last September. As you begin anew in another institution of learning or as a full time employee in business or industry remember to get off to a good start! The keynote for such a beginning is found in the first two verses of the twelfth chapter of the epistle of the Apostle Paul to the Hebrews where we read: Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto jesus the author and finisher of our faithg who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross. despising the slfame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. fl F In God bless you all, Lblff V20-af BERT P.
