HOLDORF, DAMAGE CON- TROL ASSISTANT, IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE EXPEDITIOUS ACCOMPLISHMENT OF ALL PHASES OF DAMAGE CONTROL WHICH INCLUDE STABILITY, LIST AND TRIM, MAINTAINING THE SHIP IN THE PROPER MATERIAL CONDITION OF READINESS, MAINTAINING WITHIN THE ORGANIZATION A DAMAGE CONTROL CENTRAL WITH FACILITIES FOR EVALUATING AND MAKING DECISIONS TO COUNTERACT THE EFFECT OF DAMAGE AND COORDINATE REPAIR PARTIES5 PREPARE AND INSTIGATE DAMAGE 'CONTROL DRILLS AND RENDER TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE CONCERNING THE TRAINING OF SHIPS COMPANY IN DAMAGE CONTROL AND INSURE DAMAGE CONTROL EQUIPMENT IS MAINTAINED IN THE HIGHEST CONDITION OF READINESS. IN ADDITION TO DAMAGE CONTROL THE DAMAGE CONTROL DIVISION EFFECTS REPAIRS TO VENTILATION, PLUMBING, SALT WATER SYSTEMS, AND MINOR RE- PAIRS TO THE HULL. THE DAMAGE CONTROL DIVISION MAINTAINS A DAMAGE CONTROL WORKSHOPS FOR WELDING, PIPEFITTING, PLUMBING AND SHEETMETAL WORK.
