Efaaagfcbtafzq A merry band, a gay young crew Of number thirty-six and two Seniors all and on the way To life, to joy, to work, ,to play, Just twelve years hence, we started here The month September--'43 the year. With study, struggle, and many a sigh We proudly entered Junior High. Even then, we fondly dreamed, Profusely hoped, and grandly schemed For that future, All aboard, Train leaving for Washington and New York. As green Freshmen, we were fine and dandy And started selling taffy candy. By box, by case, and by the ton We sold the stuff to everyone. Important Sophomores we became And meteor-like we rose to fame By acting in the one act plays-- Still selling candy by the case. n So busy we as Juniors were We can't subtract details from blur Then dizzily every boy and girl Entered in the Senior whirl. They save the best til last, you know The truth in this we proudly show Despite the lack of peace and rest, We'll all agree this year was best. It's May and we must now embark Small candles burning in the dark. We cast one longing look behind And then embark the waiting tide. We'll miss these friends, these hallowed halls But we must go--the future calls. But even though we take our leave Our hearts remain in memory. A gay young crew, a merry band The finest class in all the land To plot, to plan, conjure, devise The graduates of '55. Historian-Poet Judy Schwab 13
