ACTIVITIES The 1940 41 Socrety Log Book opens wlth an entry as of November 9th On that date Grrls arrrved not for the usual Kendall Hall Dance but for the first ln hxstory Flfth Form House Party The eye opener and mutual attraction of the week end was the Proctor football game which mel dentally I-Iolderness won Many boys drd double duty Q1 e a glrl on each arm as they watched this game of this duty they were rclrewed at tea nn the Rectory when the footballers came to reclalm therr partners Followrng a buffet supper a la ones all reparred to therr dorms to make ready for the dance As usual the ordeal was awarted wrth mlxed emotnons some groans and some sighs Yet the terpsrchorean whlrl ultxmately drd begln and was accompanred by Paul Ross s orchestra wrth all IIS stops open and other unlque effects The dance was well attended and well run and left nts promoters the Frfth Form and the Student Councll somewhat well spent After the trlals and trrbulatrons of Mrd Years the campus agam rang wrth the srlver laughter of female volces It was Iarnday the 31st of january and agam the Grrls assembled some old vlsltors some new for the Wlnter I-louse Party T'l'1lS trme however was not to be just one more of those dances rt had a new wrrnkle After a battle rt was decrded to make the dance formal Thrs meant much work on the part of the males but rn the long run the work was from all reports worth It Friday mght there was a trrp to the Dartmouth Ravxne Camp and this trrp with 1ts barn dance at the Camp proved to be a one hundred per cent success Saturday morning the New Hampshrre Women s Slalom Champlonshlps on Hucklns Hrll whlch some attended others went sknng at Wendy s Mov1es and sknng were the chref attractlons on Saturday afternoon they provided a happy preparatron for the evenrng dance and desprte certaxn persons love for the Rhumba the dance that evenlng was a success M 1 1 - - 1 . 1- 1 - V . , . , . 7 y . . ., I . 1 . v . 1 1 - 1 1 s - I I D, - 1 - , . 1 . , . . . 1 1 ' ' 1 ' 1 1 , ' . 7 A - 1 1 1 - - I . . .
