SIXTH FOQM HISTORY Irve years ago, two younJ bovs Just out of short pants Illllldly approached Mr Weld and gave hlm a feeble handshake thus begmmng thelr respectxve careers at Holderness School and IT1'1lxlI1g up the nueleus of the Slxth l'orm of 1941 One was a httle fellow of 193 pounds, who has not earned anv more but, rather, has lost more than a lxttle slnce The other was really small and nowhere near as protruslve as the former Wlth these two, the form began, and, as xt grew, the school seems to have grown proportlonally Durxng these lads hrst vear, there were hfty ses en boys enrolled H1 the sehool, now there are seventy hve As the enrollment mereased, obvlously the eampus ehanged A new dormntory was put up wlth a masters cottage next to lf that j0lIlCCl lf wxth the other dormltory The temporary dorm 111 the mam bulldxng has at last met nts Oflgllhll purpose and IS now the llbrary Last summer there was another much needed tennls court bullt, and now the football fleld IS bexnv leveled and seeded ln an attempt to make a llttle more grass grow on xt As the sehool has grown, so, also, have our varxous athletre teams grown, rn both slze and sueeess Our football team has lost only one game mn four years, and that one was the hrst of the season of 1937 Our skr team has Improved tremendously lil the past few years We have won several eups for xnterseholastne races and have done well Ill many dual meets There than holds 1ts own wxth most of the teams lt meets Baseball too has xmproved, but not rn such huge leaps as those games mentloned before, and, although th1s Srxth Iaorm has a1ded ath letxes nn one or another way, that IS not all ll has managed to do We have managed to hve up to the pr1v1le Yes that other Slxth Forms have had, such as Sxxth Form Coffee, proetormg lunch d1shes, and eleven o clock study permxsslon, but we have also recelved a new prlvllege ln November It was decnded that somethmg would have to be done about the SfI10lilI1U rules We had a meeting wlth Mr Weld, and It was concluded that the Snxth lorm should undertake, completely, the enforcement of these rules We have carrled on wrth thus and have had some success wxth ll The Snxth I'orm owes a large part of lts suecess 111 thnngs whleh they have done to the eo operatxon gxven them by the rest of the school We all sincerely hope that any galns we have made wrll be carrxed on and furthered by Snxth Forms to come, and that these Slxth Forms w1ll recexve as good co OPLFBIIOII from the under formers as we have had, and even better 1 I ,4i -:T 6 ., , ,, , - U ' , -rv 1 L ' 1 ' sl 6 I ' A , .
