Phillips, who both instructed English and math class- es: Mrs Hershal Carver taught spelling and penmanship, Grace Harrison, English and history teacher. Miss Lela Hawthorne, instructor of girls physical education also taught eighth grade mathematics. Virgil Durham taught civics and history. The three athletic coaches for Holden- ville were Glen Chowins , head coach who taught health and mathematics. For the jun- ior high basket-ball coach we had James K. Fox. who also taught mechanical drawing and manual training.
