assoclatlons at Holden Hugh School We are saymg Good bye to persons and scenes and actnrtres that have played so rmportant a part m the best wears of our hves YVe now realrze that the breakmg of old tres rs most dlfficult even for us young people whose eyes have already glornhed our future careers We are joyful thls evemng because we have fimshed the work to whxch we set our tremblmg freshman hands four years ago We have attamed the goal toward whrch we have gxven our best effort and Joy resxdes rn the personal satrsfactron of a Job well done Our diplomas wtll afford us that gratrficatlon and lrfe wxll be all before us as we choose But as we look forward to our next step after graduatxon our hopes and desxres are tmged wxth a colormg of fear We shall be asked to take our place ln the amazmg era m whrch we l1ve We shall be challenged to utxhze the sclentxfic progress of our age to brmg happmess mto the world Can vou wonder then why we hesxtate for a fearful C C moment before entermg that future But rt ns for only a moment for our background at Holden Hugh School has made us confident Much wlll be expected of us 111 the solutron of the tremendous problems faung our country Much wxll be thrust upon us because there 1S nowhere else to turn for help and guxdance but to the youth of our natxon Indeed the leadershxp that we provlde ln the anxlous months and years ahead wlll determme the course of world events for the next generation for the rest of thxs century We are wlllmg and ready to face thus challenge of leadershrp because ot our rmplxcxt fanth an the educatronal trarnmg of Holden Hlgh School We realrze the burden of responsibility but we are confident that lts werght w1ll never be too great for our foundahon has been establrshed and strengthened by the How these last two ltems entered mto the construc txon of a new school was not elaborated on but therr mcluslon dld not seem to excite any comment from the school commrttee In 1153 the town approprrated twelwe pounds Qabout sixty dollarsj for schools and appomted three drtferent sectlons ot town for thelr locatxon-one ln the west part of town one rn the center and the other rn the east
