THE 1967 ECHO HOLBROOK HIGH SCHOOL HOLBROOK, MASSACHUSETTS DEDICATION 2 I W ' e the class of 1967 fondly dedicate this yearbook to our teacher, friend, and advisor. Miss Rosemary Driscoll. During our years at Holbrook High School, she worked diligently and relent- lessly to helj) us become mature adults ready to take our places in society. As head senior advisor. Miss Driscoll had worked hard. Although she has been, at times, disappointed, she has never complained or lost the conviction that our class would be the best ever. Her witty, optomistic nature has made her a friend to all. Her sparkling personality and warm-hearted friendliness have won for her a special place in our hearts. No, Miss“D”, you will not soon be forgotten nor will we forget room 204 where we could go when troubled and receive a kind word and an understand- ing smile. Thank you. Miss Driscoll, for all you have done for us. May God bless you always. 3 The Echo is the yearbook of the student body of Holbrook High School. It is a pictorial record of the 1966-1967 scholastic year. Our thoughts, words, and deeds of that year are now history. Echo has captured some of our moods and madnesses and has glimpsed our academic, athletic, and social activities. This book could not have been successfully published without the work of innumerable dedicated and persevering people. The Echo staff would especially like to thank our advisors: Mr. Robert Kindelan, Mr. Jerome Walsh, and Mr. Irwin Cohen. 1 he value of their guidance and assistance is immeasurable. Also we would like to thank the anon- ymous persons who did the many little but vital things to assist us in this publication. 4 TABLE OF CONTENTS FACULTY ACTIVITIES SPORTS SENIORS UNDERCLASSMEN ADVERTISING EDITOR IN CHIEF ASSISTANT EDITOR TYPING EDITOR LITERARY EDITOR ART EDITORS 9 23 37 73 55 115 LYNNE DORN RUTH DWYER DEBORAH LIVELY JANICE PINKHAM LARRY LONG JOHN CROWE HEAD ADVISOR LITERARY BUSINESS 5 MR. IRWIN COHEN A MESSAGE EROM THE SENIOR CLASS PRESIDENT SEXIOR CLASS PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Dare nothing, gain nothing,” the motto ’hich has piloted the class of 1967 through its tour years at Holbrook High School, symbolizes the aggressiveness with which we shall attack the future. This motto points out the daring at- titude with tvhich we undertook so many of our social and academic activities. The final out- come of these undertakings has been success. By living this motto we have acquired a unique in- dividuality which has helped us mature into well-rounded, well-prepared future citizens. The time is now drawing near when our high school days will be over and we shall venture forth to take our parts in the cast of performers acting upon the stage of life. Before we move on, let us return once more to the rapidly fad- ing past. We have gained a great deal from our experi- ences at Holbrook High School. We have learned to recognize our own talents and our own restrictions. We have, through the contri- butions of many, had our characters molded. We have gro vn to be on the threshold of re- sponsible adulthood. I know I speak for the entire class when I ex- tend to the administration, to the faculty, and to the friends of Holbrook High School who have been the backbone and inspiration of our success, our most sincere and heartfelt thanks. We can only hope that we make you proud. We, the class of 1967, would like especially to thank Miss Driscoll and Mr. O’Reilly for- the unselfishness with which they gave their time, their knowledge, their energy and their guid- ance to our undertakings. To them we owe much. We shall always appreciate their efforts and go forth remembering, ‘‘Dare nothing, gain nothing.” 6 TO I HE CLASS OF 1967: Because you live in a land of freedom, your whole life should speak forth with thankfulness. Live honestly and use wisely whatever talents you have been given. Happiness and success come to those who do the best they can, no matter how small or how large the task. 1. D. Adams Our 1967 family album would be incomplete without a fitting tribute to the faculty for their perennial patience and careful counselling. They have stood by us through all our triumphs and all our defeats. Their duty was to educate us; to prepare us for the future. They accomplished this objective and much more. We are proud to know that no matter where we turn there is a teacher willing to help and guide us whether socially or academically. Many of us are involved in extra-curricular activities. These activities could not succeed without the unstinting and unselfish devotion of the faculty. They have chaperoned our dances, attended our sports events, directed our plays, and even patronized our food sales. We, the graduating class of Holbrook High School for 1967, are surely blessed with the finest faculty a school has ever had. They have stimulated us academi- cally, culturally, and socially. They have done their full share. 9 MRS. HELEN WOOD LANGUAGES, DEPARTMENT HEAD MRS. JANE MONAHAN National Honor Society Advisor HOMEMAKING 11 MR. NATHAN CHANCEY SCIENCE MRS. Some of the clubs were established to give a student a chance to enjoy himself doing what he likes. Others are for the improvement of the inquir- ing mind. Most clubs are open to those who wish to join; but some are open only to those who can earn their membership such as the National Honor Society, or those who are elected as The Student Council. The clubs are under the leadership of teachers who devote their own time helping students to help themselves. In these activities a student has the opportunity to widen his interests, extend his horizons, and above all to learn. No matter what a student has an interest in, if he has the willingness and the ability he can surely find a place for himself in at least one of the many organizations that are open to the students here at HHS.
