and o o o For over six years Mr. Gilgan has been serving the Towns of Holbrook and Avon in his capacity as superintendent of schools. Since January of this year, however, due to the rapid growth in our schools, we have been privileged to have him adminis- tering to the Holbrook system alone. As supervisor and administrator of all the schools in Holbrook, he is kept constantly on the run by his many and varied duties, which include everything from the plan- ning for our new school to the scheduling of polio shots. High Carroll Gilgan is a man of vision. His intense devotion to the growth and education of Holbrook's youth and his un- tiring efforts on our behalf merit him the praise and admiration of our community.

Our wagon has been hitched to a most remarkable star, and to show our true, heartfelt appreciation for the help and cooperation you have given us, would be impossible. You began your teaching career here in 1924, and in the thirty-two years since your inauguration, you have played a vital port in the history of Sumner High. Your sphere of influence has been ond will continue to be great. Blessed with a wonderful sense of humor, which serves as background to your patience and understanding, you have guided us through these four memorable high school years, May the future find us all attempting to live up to those high standards you set for us. 3

GARLAND L. NEAL-The guiding light of Sumner High. He's a hard man to convince in an argument and we'lI never forget those fiery debates in Problems. His deep interest in the pleasures and problems of Sumner makes him an able administrator and help- ful friend. His patience and quiet understanding are qualities we all admire. FRANCIS S. RODDY- Aren't there any scientists in this genera- tion? That's our own Mr. Roddy bemoaning the fact that no one seems to understand the finer things in life. Although his subiects of science, physics, chemistry, and biology confuse us, we love him for his patience, understanding, and cooperation. PETER A. BIZINKAUSKAS-His English classes are highlighted with that same enthusiasm and humor which sparked the pro- duction of our yearbook.
