The Smithies played hard and fooled everyone. Led by all-city, Johnny Tibbitts, the Smithies beat their rival, Roosevelt, 27-6. Johnny was far from the only outstanding boy. Steve Mullis had his share of the limelight too, he received the 'LBest Blocker award at the annual football banquet held in February. Other boys who received trophies were Claude Eskew, 'LBest Linemanl' and Jessie Aaron, Most Improvedfl Next year the black and gray team hope to see an even better season, and the coaches say they can.
