.Nz THE CAPTAI COMMANDER PAUL A. ASMUS Commander ASMUS has completed over 19 years of Naval Service. He participated in the NROTC Program at Oregon State University were he graduated in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. His first tour of duty was in USS ELDORADO fAGC-113 in the Engineering Department. In January 1952, he was transferred to USS ELECTRA fAKA-4y where he served as Navigator. Nearly three years later in October 1954, he was ordered to USS SHEA fDM-305 as Operations Officer. Two years later, then a lieutenant, CDR ASMUS attended General Line School for one year. He was then assigned to COMSERVPAC Staff as Plans Officer. In November 1959, he became Executive Officer of USS FALGOUT fDER-3241. Upon completion of his tour there he was assigned to the REQUIRE- MENTS SECTION of BUPERS for nearly three years. In May 1964, he became the Executive Officer of USS EDWARDS fDD-9501 followed in Decembei 1965 by a tour as Operations Officer in USS CHICAGO fCG-115. In June 1967, he returned to BUPERS where he served in the Officer Requirements Section, He assumed command of HOEL in September 1969. '
