Take a walk on the “‘Y.O.”’ side res z ESE '.can't do it! It's too high!’” These - words were said by many freshman girls on top of a thirty-foot pamper pole at the Y.O. Ranch in Kerrville, Texas. But, most everyone did jump onto the trapeze without falling, cross the heebie jeebie, find points with a compass and a map, and hold an eight-foot long boa constrictor named Babette. Spending October 15th through the 19th at Y.O. helped many girls leave their fears behind. With the help of trust-falls and prob- lem solving, the freshman class gof fo know and understand one another better. Y.O. truly was an important part of the ninth graders’ year af Hockaday. Trust if to the Trustees On Friday, September 25, 1987, trustees were seen in various class- rooms throughout the day. The topic of this year’s Trustee Day was ‘‘Non- Classroom Support System. Dr. Jack Martin was the main speaker dis- cussing developmental needs of chil- dren. Dr. Schmidt and Dr. Johnson spoke for the Lower School on pro- grams to develop leadership. The Williamsburg Trip was an example in Mrs. Roe’s speech representing Mid- dle School support. And, Mr. Ed Long talked about the advisor system in the Upper School. Mrs. Nancy Speck, a boarder’s mother, also spoke on the topic of support for the boarding students. Overall, everyone felt that this year’s Trustee Day was very ed- ucational.
