Student Council Starts With SPIRIT SE: ST ah The Student Council began the new | Bi ga a year with the annual weekend retreat, § Me setting goals for 1987-1988. The day Nf = 4 began with a series of ‘project adven- ture’ trust activities, joined by the council of St. Mark's. After a two-hour journey to Longview to the home of Carrie Boren, the council role-played difficult situations and watched a movie on com- munication. Surviving the twenty-four hours of discussions, fun, and late-night golf-cart rides, the council came home with a better understanding of the qual- ities and responsibilities required to make up SPIRITED leadership. ro (Above): Darcy Ahlberg, Student Council President (Above): Evangeline takes the first leap for Student Council 1987-1988. 18 Activities

Tuesday,’ September 8, was Orientation Day for the en- tire school. Lower School parents, students, and teachers met in the morning in order to get acquainted with one another and find out what would be going on during the year. In the Middle School, students spent the day with their homerooms, met with Miss Drawz, and picked up all their books and supplies. Finally, Upper School met in the afternoon for an assembly and then went to see their ad- visors. Orientation Day was a success and helped start off the year smoothly.
