Student Council Rises to New Heights ; 3 Student council set off the new year we 3 t with its traditional weekend retreat. Bs ee ict ©) Beginning at Hockaday and then even- tually migrating to the Dutta’s house, these officers learned the importance of cooperation and the need for com- munication. Working together with St. Mark’s and the P.E. department, both student councils survived a modified “Project Adventure’”’ course designed to promote trust and understanding. The Hockaday Council emerged from this year’s retreat with a better understand- ing of leadership, responsibility, and of each other. » (Above): Where are we? Trustees: Students for a Day School, only once a year?!! [979% Bak Sy Td Maybe for the trustees but not for us. Attending classes and meeting the students, the trustees got a taste of Hockaday life and of the hubub around the campus. this year. After a day at Hockaday, the trustees emerged with expressions of smiles and relief — smiles that hopefully Hockaday prompted and relief that at least they don’t have any homework. pas (Above): Mrs. Dealy is always willing to help. Hockaday’s community service pro- gram is dedicated to helping people help themselves. Along with Community Service Workshop, it involved itself in the Charity Bowl, tutoring at Stephen C. Foster, and many other activities. By holding numerous bake sales for charity, giving holiday parties, visiting nursing homes, and other projects. In addition, over $2000 was raised for The Family Place from Charity Bowl ticket sales. The success of Community Service lies in the dedication of the students and the donation of their time, which has resulted in a rewarding AOE for everyone. , ( cs RC YY (Above) Jenny’s my name, and making pumpkins is my game!
