This summe r many Hockaday students traveled to exotic nations throughout the world. Some journeyed on school-sponsored trips to such ex- citing places as Hawaii to study Marine Biology, or to Spain, where the girls lived with a Spanish family. Others embarked on the AFS experience and traveled to various countries throughout Europe including Switzerland, France, and Belgium. However, a large portion of the stu- dent body dedicated their summers to total relaxation. Regardless of where the girls spent Summer ’86, you can bet they all had a fabulous vacation which they never wanted to end!!! (Right): Adios Dallas, Texas, hola Cuenca, Spain! As the summer drew to an end, the Hocka- day Upper School Welcoming Committee began preparing for the back-to-school crowd. New bulletin boards and ‘‘Welcome to School” signs filled the hall for the arrival of boarders and new students on Orientation Day. The first day of school brought the usual chaos and excitement that accompanies this busy time of the year. Once again the halls teemed with the sound of anxious voices, the banging of lockers and the obnoxious five- minute bells.
