PHILIP P. PERKINS This has been our first year to have an Assistant Headmaster at Hockaday. Mr. Perkins received an enthusiastic Welcome and has been an asset to Hockaday from the beginning. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Education from West Chester State College in Pennsylvania and his Master of Arts degree in English from the Bread Loaf School at Middlebury College in Vermont. After serving as a pilot in the Second World War, he became a teacher at Saint Albans School in Washington, D. C. He later accepted chairinanship of the English Department at Crosse Pointe University School, in Michigan, and from there became principal of the Upper School and teacher of English at Sidwell Friends School of Washington, D. C: Mr. Perkins came to Hockaday in the fall of 1962 as Assistant Headmaster and Head of the Upper School.

ROBERT SIMPSON LYLE Completing his second year as Headmaster of The Hockaday School, Mr. Lyle has earned the respect and admiration of all.. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College and his NLS. in Education from Cornell University. He taught Latin and English at Saint Ceorge's School in Newport, Rhode Island, and then became head of the Latin Department at Peddie School in Heightstown, New Jersey. After service in the Navy, Mr. Lyle became Headmaster at Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D. C. His association with Hockaday began in the fall of 1961, His experience in education has led him to the opinion that, uln each student there must be the continuing desire and the quest for knowledge. Through the development of character, scholastic discipline, physical fitness and cultural attainment, a Hockaday girl should achieve that personal happiness that comes from an effective participation in and contribution to her societyf,
