Dedication Mr. William K. McNabb is nationally known for his outstanding contributions to the world of mathematics. A prominent mathematician, he has served on many committees concerned with mathematical research and teach- ing. He has brought prestige to Hockaday and has given her one of the most comprehensive and advanced high school mathematics programs in the nation. Mr. McNabb's valid theory of teaching fundamentals rather than problem-solving techniques is one of the reasons that his students have such a strong background. Math is a difficult subject to comprehend, yet he always manages to make it clear, fun, and fascinating. He inspires diligence and effort in all his students. He possesses a boundless patience for the ever-present, l don't understand and Please explain that again. His main desire is to help, and perhaps his most frequent comment is, Stop by the office anytime. No matter what he is doing - whether writing a new textbook, writing a report, or working on one of his many proiects M he is never too busy to help students with their problems. Mr. McNabb periodically amuses his students by ad- vocating a six-day school week and an eleven-month school year. Although his proposal is offered quite ser- iously, it is always met with only a mixture of smiles and groans. He has shown loyalty and devotion to Hockaday throughout the twelve years he has been at the school, and in return he has received respect, admiration, and love from the entire student body. uk SE 'ir Mr. McNabb, we know that we can never fully repay you for what you have given us, we can only thank you very much for everything - for all you have done for the school and for those qualities which you have in- stilled in us. -The Class of 1960 2

My thoughts turn first to those of you who will receive diplomas at Commencement. Your accomplishments at Hockaday, as symbolized by these diplomas, will make you a source of in- spiration to your younger classmates. I am proud of the Class of i960 and of the achievements of each member of the class. May all of you have a full measure of success and happiness in the years ahead. Every Hockaday student and faculty member, l am sure, will join me in congratulating the editors and the staff of this yearbook for their excellent work in recording the activities of this school year. A publication like Cornerstones demands time, energy, and skill from every mem- ber of the staff. You have given freely of all these things. ln return, you have been doubly re- warded with this impressive-looking book itself and with the gratitude and admiration of your classmates.
