iuaasamtscal Elizabeth, better known as Beth, is rather quiet and very smart. Indeed, she was intelligent enough to be a National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalist. But don't let her calm exterior fool you, for under it all is as lively a per- sonality as you can hope to find! Although a little shy, she enioys a good time and is a noteworthy conversation- alist. Whether you are discussing last Friday's date or Kant's philosophy, Beth always has something interesting to say. What is more, she has a keen sense of humor. One thing is certain: no matter what life has in store for her, Beth will meet it calmly and make the most of it. And wherever she goes, she will make a place for herself. +I 1 Qfve4,4,2Z Tiny, well-dressed, and full of laughter is Paula Carruth. She came to Hockaday from Harlingen, Texas, in her iunior year and has made many close friends because of her interest in others, her thoughtfulness, and her unusual sense of humor. Paula always has a friendly word for others when they need it most. She is not the quiet girl many think she is, her spontaneous laughter and quick wit make her beloved and appreci- ated by all who know her. Paula is also a responsible and determined person, especially where school work is concerned. Her per- severance carries her easily through difficult times. Because she is rather modest about her accomplish- ments, few people realize that she is an excellent pi- anist. She has taken piano lessons for many years and plays with perfection. Paula will be remembered for her many good qualities, outstanding among which are her kindness, consideration, and level-headedness.
