That day was the beginning of twelve mem- orable years. The next six years were spent preparing us for junior and senior high school. In the few years that followed the sixth grade many changes took place. We began changing classes and choosing our own subjects. It was somewhat difficult at first, but it finally became part of our regular routine. HILARITY HOUSE, our Junior Play, and the Junior-Senior Banquet were two of the most fascinating events of our Junior year. Then came the day we ordered our class rings. It was this that convinced us that we really would be seniors in a few months. August 28, 1964. The big day arrived! At last we were Seniors! After a few weeks of school things began to happen. We received our class rings, the magazine campaign began, Miss Hoboken took place, and BOLTS AND NUTS, our Senior Play was to be presented. All of these activities and others to come are contributing to our class trip fund. Now, that graduation day is near, we the seniors of '65 would like to acknowledge the entire faculty of Hoboken High School and express our deepest appreciation to all our friends and the student body who helped make it possible for us to continue to look forward--the future is now ours to conquer. 33 Class Prophecy 1965 The class of '65 held its tenth reunion at the 1985 World’s Fair in Hoboken, Georgia. Ronnie Lynn, mayor of Hoboken, welcomed the group. Talmadge Edwards, Governor of Georgia, gave a rousing speech, using notes supplied to him by his girl-Friday, Margie Lewis. The group was led by Cheryl Kelley and Linda Hickox, guides at the fair, as Gary Jacobs, well-known scientist, explained the scientific displays. Loretta Johns, English professor at the University of Georgia, corrected all grammatical errors. Venita Crawford, world-renowned psychiatrist, brought along two of her patients, Carol Lee and Ann Lee. Charles Cillis, owner of a horse ranch, came via horseback. Carl Thornton and Ronnie Lee, owners of a tobacco plantation, came with their champion tobacco pickers, Ralph Shepard, Barry Hickox, and Nor- man Dowling. Rita Fowler, famous basketball star, arrived on the scene just before Chelsa Walker and Gail Thrift, both mothers of 9; who left their children at home. James Cuy, U.S. Olympic track star, was also there with his assistant, David Earl Sapp. Helen Crews, noted beautician, came with three of her most faithful customers, LaVeme Clark, Ann Harris, and Barbara Aldridge. Lester Dubose, local garage owner, and his mechanic, Calvin Bennett, were called away from the fair to rescue James Johns, J. C. Harris, and Johnny Griffin. While en route to the fair, they had run into the ditch after colliding with Johnny Lucas, famous stock-car driver. Benny Jacobs, sheriff of Brantley County, investigated the accident. Diane Griffin fainted from over-excitement, and had to be revived by Creig Thrift noted physician assisted by Linda Aldridge. The group was entertained by the music of Pam Kelley, famous pianist and David Givens, trumpeter. They were accompanied by Marvin Howell. Geraldine Crews was the only member not able to attend. She and her husband live in far away Zanzibar. Eddie Bell, editor of the Hoboken Journal-Herald, covered the entire event, aided by his star reporters, Linda Howell and Barbara McClain. 34 JUNIORS Gail Cason President Cheryl Riggins Vice President Joyce Herrin Secretary Barbara Dryden Treasurer Betty Jo Ammons Reporter Hilda Murray Social Chairman Linda Ammons Billy Barber Charlene Crawford Kathryn Crews Diane Davis Diane Edwards Frances Givens Farrest Griffin Jimmy Criffin 36 Shirley Harris Rita Jacobs Jesse Johns Warren Johnston Susie Jones Linda Lee Harry Melton Betty Jane Merritt Johnny Morgan J.
