Some were crying for their parents while others were busy making new friends. During our twelve years of school together, we have laughed and quarreled. In these twelve wonderful years, we have gotten to know each other quite well. In the seventh grade, we started changing classes. We thought we were grown up”, for only high school students could change classes. In 1958, we became freshmen and were really awakened to the fact that we were high school students. We were allowed to take five subjects, and were kept very busy. In the tenth grade, we had an easier schedule. We were even allowed some choices. The fun really began when we presented our Junior Play Mumbo Jumbo” last year. Then came our Junior-Senior Banquet. We also sold Christmas cards but the most important day of all was when we ordered our class rings. At long last we came back to school as seniors. We received our rings the first day. We all gazed at our fingers and held then: out so r. uch that it is a wonder our arms aren’t broken! Other important events of our senior year are: Miss Hoboken, Alumni lianquet, Junior-Senior Hanquel, Senior Play, and others in order to raise money for our long-awaited class trip. We all know that we have called our teachers names, fussed at them, etc.; but now as we look back over the years and think of all the good things each teacher did for us, we realize that they were only trying to do their best and were only helping us make a success. From the day we entered school in 1950, we thought we would never graduate; but now we realize how short it has been. All twenty-eight of us, Annette Lucas, Sylvia Kelley, Kathleen Pearson, Jerry Dickerson, Jimmy Gunter, Lamar Altman, Marvis Roberts, Joan Stone, Deloris Edwards, Dorothy Stone, Alvie King, Nell Griffin, Elsie Hickox, Jimmy Hickox, Gene Jacobs, Wayne Lee, Wayne Altman, Ann O’Neal, Myra Carter, Johnny Chesser, Shirley Roundtree, Lilly Kimbrell, Robert Page, Edith Aldridge, Margaret Pierce, Willis Lee, Bernetta Redding, and Barbara Lane, leave our very dear school with many memories to carry with us throughout life. BARBARA LANE Class Will of 1962 We, the Seniors of 1962, proud of our positions as Seniors, completely exhausted and lifeless from mental fatigue, do hereby bequeath to our fellow sufferers at Hoboken High School, our most valuable treasures in sincere hopes that they will love and cherish them more than we have. End Class Prophecy of 1962 I he trip of the graduating class to the African Jungle was planned by Mayor of Hoboken, WAYNE LEE, and KATHLEEN PKAFSON, a Primary Sunday School Teacher at the St. Mary’s Baptist Church. According to the self-appointed captain, MARVIS ROBERTS, and assistant captain, JIMMY GUNTER, the voyage would begin at Timber Landing Bay on the morning of June 35th. DOROTHY STONE, the owner of Stone’s Laundry, arrived at the Bay with 28 washtubs to use for life boats in case of an emergency. ANN O’NEAL, an Algebra teacher, arrived at the Bay with Timber County School Superintendent, ANNETTE' LUCAS. LILLY KIMBFELL and LAMAR ALTMAN, two of June Taylor’s most famous dancers, arrived at the Bay, wearing their tap dancing shoes, thinking they would need them in Africa. The two contestants from the Miss Hoboken Contest, NELL GRIFFIN and MARGARET PIERCE, after arriving at the Bay fell in the water and were rescued by a fisherman, JIMMY HICKOX, who was also going on the trip. MYRA CARTF'P and JOAN STONE, both members of the Timber County Lunchroom Personnel, arrived at the Bay with a large pot of chicken noodle soup, just in case MR. BLANCHARD came. BERN ETTA REDDING and ELSIE HICKOX, both members of the Double Bubble Gum Club of Timber County, arrived at the Bay with a total of 15 pieces of gum. This was really their lucky day on bubble gum machines. SYLVIA KFXLEY, a local housewife, was able to go after leaving her quadruplet’s with her husband, who is a Navy Admiral. After coming by W.A.C.L., GENE JACOBS and BARBARA LANE, both members of the Hornhonkers Club of W.A.C.L., arrived with the horn on their car blasting forth because it was stuck. SHIRLEY ROUNTREiE, sales girl from the Bottom Dollar, arrived at the Bay asking, May I help you?” DELORIS EDWARDS, a millionaire after inheriting a large sum of Confederate money, arrived at the Bay with her Chauffeur, JERRY DICKERSON, in his new model 1938 Studebaker. ROBERT PAGE, candidate for the Presidency of the United States of America, arrived at die Bay widi his campaign manager, WILLIS LEE and they were informed by another politician, WAYNE ALTMAN, that they would miss the election if they made the trip. EDITH ALDRIDGE and JOHNNY CHESSER, both employees at Lake Tuffy, were supposed to purchase the ship for the voyage; but due to financial problems, the voyage was made in Dot’s 28 washtubs. ALVIE KING, Miss Rodeo Queen was the only member of the class not able to make the trip because she had fallen from her horse in front of the Hoboken Post Office in downtown Hoboken and received a slight foot injury.
