THE HOBART GLEE CLUB The Hobart Glee Club is composed of about 70 girls. The officers are: President-Roberta Grieser, Vice-President--Mari lyn Long, Secretary and Treasurer-Louise Ratliff, and Beezer Hancock is our Reporter. The glee club is pretty well known for their singing for different clubs and associations. On January 30th, the first 25 members went to Stillwater, Oklahoma to the singing festival which was directed by Noble Cain. Several members went to this last year. The girls had a delightful time and enjoyed relating their activities to the girls who didn,t get to go. All the girls brag about our director. We believe that Mr. Peters is just wonderful and sometimes we can't understand just how he puts up with us. He is very popular with all the girls and is often referred to as our blue-eyed Pete. We are sure Mr. Peters has had more affections bestowed upon him than any other teacher, from the students that is. We sometimes wonder what Mrs. Peters would say, but she too is very popular. She is often our substitute teacher. The girls are now working on an operetta to put on soon. 'qulrmr WOINY' First in state and third in nation has been quoted by Hobart youth since our Teen Town was organized in 1942 by the first mayor, Murray Dell Hughes. A few improvements were made on the second floor of the old City Hall in the following year with Norma Fanning at the head of it. A large group of members completely re- painted and repaired the hall led by Mary Clyde Baker, mayor in 1944. In 1945 a parents organization was formed to sponsor Teen Town and Mrs. Belle Jones was elected president. She is still full-time chaperone. During Dick Jones' term as mayor a drive was held to raise money for new red-leather booths. This year a benefit bridge brought in money for other improvements. John Montgomery and Marilyn Long were other officers last year. This year was started off in a big way. The Starlight, Melody Room, Hellza- poppin, and Blue Jeans dances have been some of our best. The Junior-Senior prom last May and the annual Sadie Hawkins dance and Christmas formal are the best events of the year. Improvements this year, which included the Red Room and the silhouettes, were under the supervision of Roberta Greiser, Camak Baker, and .lulia Hensley as officers. Council members are Dick Jones, Marilyn Long, Bill Strickler, Paula Blackwelder, Fred Polly, Gay Worrall, Bob Montgomery, and Beezer Hancock. Everyone takes great pride in our Teen Town because they all know that it is one of the best in Oklahoma.
