We came back as Juniors to welcome President Alan W. Brown at his official inauguration. But this was election year, and other people were cam- paigning for the title of President. Harry Truman stopped at theN. Y. Central station for a few minutes in the pour- ingrain and admitted that he didn't know loo much about Hobart. Where has he been all these years? At school, the Union was rapidly transformed into a vote-getting zoo. Our first Fall Weekend produced a Mardi Gras Ball and a first-class float parade. Private enterprise look over the Cafeteria and later, the Student Union. Hobart honored Elizabeth Blackwell, first woman doctor in the world, in an impressive Centennial. Our college radio station, WEOS, began operating on a regular schedule. The Little Theatre produced “Antigone , Sophocles' Greek tragedy, and the world premier of Lajos Zilahy's play, “The Virgin and the Fawn .
