Z 1 , I , - h Z a , CLASS OFFICERS Pres1dent Donald Keysor Vxce presldent Lorene Rumble Treasurer Wllllam Walter Secretary M1ldred Rogers HISTORY On a br1ght and portentous day m the fall of 1937 the Class of 1941 embark ed on a per1lous voyage through hlgh school We were a group of verdant freshmen and progressed as most green freshles d We had an enrollment of 30 puplls Wlth Mxss Lxppert act1ng as our sponsor for the year Our flrst class meetmg made us feel as though we were a part of the hlgh school and we were pretty cocky but we dld get somethmg done at least we elected Dorothy Palmer presldent Hubert Konkle VICE pres1dent Kouneta Bly the secretary Lorene Rumble treasurer and Rxchard Dunlap representative The f1rst venture of the freshman class was a roller skatmg party January 11 1937 at the Y W C A Everyone had a Jolly txme Of course there were a few people who could have had a better t1me wxth two palrs of skates At the begmnmg of our sophomore year we had an add1t1on of four pup1ls They were Betty Harman Rlta Mlller Ralph Dunn and Dale Snyder We also lost three members of the class W1lbur Mxller Hazel Thatcher and Harley Marshall On September 30 1938 we had a class meetlng Wlth Mr Weaver as our sponsor We elected our class OHICBFS for the year Fred Straley was elected presldent M1ldred Rogers v1ce presldent Antonla Vargas secretary Richard Dunlap treasurer Ralph Dunn Lorene Rumble and B111 Walter recreatxon commxttee Dorothy Palmer news reporter The flrst great event of th1s year for our class was party at Dorothy Palmers home October 28 1938 The second great event of the year was a welner roast at Ralph Dunns home May 19 1939 The freshmen and faculty were 1nv1ted It turned out to be a very successful event Just as the prevlous party at MISS Palmers At the beglnnmg of our Jumor year we dlscovered that Betty Halman Robert Mlller Dorothy He1ght and Mary Marshall were not here Th1s left w1th only 26 pup1ls 13 1 ' ' 1-. , - u ' 11 0 1 as 11 ' - 1 1 1 1 ' 1 ' 1 1 1 1 1 - 1 , . .... . - 1 1 1 - - 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 ' 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 - 3 1 1 1 ' ' 1 1 1 ' - . . . , U 1 1 1 . slxteen I always carry street clothes 1n my plane for Just such an occass lon as thls So grabb1ng my clothes I went mto an anteroom where I changed hurrledly and breathlessly telephoned for a taX1 I tr1ed to settle my nerves whlle proceedxng down town but my womans 1ntu1t1on told me that somethlng deflmtely was gomg to happen And so lt d1d' We came to an abrupt stop on Maln street as the traffxc llght turned green to glV6 the motor1st on Wash1ngton the rlght of way Then someth1ng happened All of a sudden my neck felt as though lt were 1n two pxeces w1th no connect1on what so ever A dr1ver had ev1dently fa1led to stop when we d1d and gave us qulte a bump I told the tax1 dr1ver that I would nt mlnd walk1ng across the street had taken a good look at hlS face and I suddenly real1zed I was talk1ng to Jun1or Rumble The dr1ver that had Jarred us was Dennls Robey who never had good brakes Pretty soon I heard a patrolman com1ng and h1s slren was really spl1tt1ng the a1r He nabbed Den DIS and came around to talk to Jun1or and I recogn1zed Vernell Pol1ng What a way to meet old school mates' After that I hurrled across the street thank1ng my lucky stars that I was st1ll able to walk My beloved enemy Marguerlte was standmg on Bowers Drug Store corner We went 1n and got a couple of sodas Qulte naturally enough she d1d all the talkmg I was mformed that she and Hubert Konkle were farm1ng near Van Wert and that Hubert was known as a solo1st all over Van Wert County She 1nv1ted me to spend the even1ng w1th them We thought we would go to a beauty salon and spend the rest of the afternoon goss1p1ng We PROPHECY chose the best salon 1n town WhlCh IS owned and operated by LOUISE Bashore There was an acrobatlc show on 1n town and so for evemng tertamment we went to see that B111 Walter owned the show and was the star acrobat hlmself It was late when we reached the1r home so she declded that I should stay over n1ght Herb re tlred and Marguer1te and I went to the k1tchen to make some coffee Returmng to the 11v1ng room we turned out the llghts threw an other log on the f1re and sat b fore the f1replace s1pp1ng coffee and mbbllng doughnuts She told me that Fred Straley was an Oh1o State Farmer and do mg rlght well too He owns one ot the ten best farms 1n Oh1o and lS the Presxdent of the Farm Bureau OFg3HlZ8t10H of OhlO I cldently he st1ll 11ves 1n Jackson Townshlp Elw1n Schramm Carl Markley and Dale Snyder were Wert County You know maybe they d1d learn someth1ng of value from the F F A She asked me lf I had heard about Ralph Dunn Eld1va GTIHIS M1ldred Rogers Antonla Vargas Dorothy Palmer L1ll1e Mosxer and Lorene Rumble So I took my turn at talkmg Eldlva GYIHIS I told her was an A1rl1ne Hostess on a b1g transport plane She surprlsed me I thought she would be a stenographer But fate IS funny M1ldred Rogers IS a pr1vate nurse 1n Ch1cago and xs very romantlcally engaged to her patlent Antoma Vargas IS teachmg En gl1sh and art ln a large Texas c1ty Marguer1te seemed to be thxnk 1ng or at least mlles away so I talked on Dorothy Palmer who holds the Chalr of Modern Languages of Harvard Un1vers1ty went to Bra z1l to study nature but thought better of lt and started studymg Braz1l1an p0lltlCS L1ll1e MOSICF used to be a news paper reporter travelmg all over the world but she got marrled and 15 has settled down to lxve a con tented l1fe 1n town Marguerlte
