These students, in addition to being awarded a certificate of recognition, are aided in continuing their studies after graduation of in finding a suitable position in their chosen field. The campus nominating committee follows the criteria set forth by Who ' s Who in selecting candidates. These qualifications include scholarship, participation and leadership in academic and extracurricular activities, citizenship, and promise for future usefulness. Coming to IJiwassee from Lenoir City, TN, MARIETTA BLACKBURN is receiving her A.A. in Business Administration. Marietta has served as a Circle K Calendar Girl, was nominated for Miss Hiwassee, and was a member of the 1975 Homecoming Court. She is also a member of the PTK, FCA, and has participated on the girl ' s basketball team and the tennis team. HELEN BURNS comes to Hiwassee from Townsend, TN. While at Hiwassee, Helen has served on the intramural council both her freshmen and sophomore years. Helen was a Miss Hiwassee nominee and was the Sophomore Class President. She hopes to receive her degree in Elementary Education and go back to her home county to teach. DARREL CLABOUGH, a Sophomore, is majoring in Pre-Denistry. Darrel comes from Friendsville High School in Friendsville, TN. He has served as co-captain of the Baseball team, and in addition is a member of PTK, FCA, and has played intramural football and basketball. Darrel was also elected as Mr. Hiwassee. A Sophomore from Hillsville, Virginia, CAROL VIRGINIA CURRIN is majoring in Church music and recreation. Carol has been a member of CSM, CSM Council, and treasurer to CSM. She was also a member of Choir-President, two additional ensembles, and the Student Council. WILLIAM ALLEN DAILEY is a Sophomore from Madisonville, TN, and is majoring in Agriculture. Bill has been a member of the Agriculture Club in which he served as President, the Civitans, Equitation Club, PTK, and the OCP. Bill plans to attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and major in Plant and Soil Science. From Lexington, TN, comes DONNA DENISE FRANKLIN, a Sophomore majoring in Pre-Nursing. Donna has served as President of CSM, is a member of Campus Gold, Choir, Intramural Council, OCP, and had a lead role in the Drama Production of “Oklahoma”. Donna plans to finish nurses training at Union University in Jackson, TN, and go directly into hospital work; perhaps going back to school for her B.S.later. JANET MARIE HANKS comes as a transfer student from Emory and Henry University and plans to have an interdisciplinary major of Christian Education, Music, and Recreation, later hoping to work in these areas in the Methodist Church. During her Sophomore year, Janet was a member of CSM, Hiwassee Choir, “Shalom,” and the Life Service Volunteers. Majoring in Agricultural Engineering, LAWRENCE DOKA GAULTNEY is a Sophomore from Bean Station, TN. Larry has received a variety of scholarships, including the PTK and CSM Scholarships. In addition, Larry is a member of the PTK, CSM Council, Agriculture Club, Hiwassean Newspaper Staff, and the Yearbook Staff. Larry also tied for the highest grades in the freshmen class and has been on the Dean’s List a number of times. A Sophomore from Cleveland, TN, DAVID HENDERSON is completing work for a double major in Religion and Physical Education. His activities at Hiwassee have included Freshmen Class President, PTK President, and member of OCP. In addition to these, he is a member of Life Service and the FCA. David has also participated in Basketball and Tennis. He plans to go into the mission field employed by the Methodist Church as a type of recreational director. CAROLYN CLARK HICKEY comes to Hiwassee from Philadelphia, TN, and is majoring in Home Economics Education. Carolyn is a

Henderson, Bill Dailey, Larry Gaultney, Donna Franklin, Cris Hughes, Janet Hanks, Terry Johnson, Helen Burns, Carolyn Hickey, Rhonda Myers, Marietta JUNIOR COLLEGES member of PTK, OCP, President of the Home Economics Club and is a member of the Dorm Council. Carolyn is a very active member of the Hiwasseo Civinettes. and as a result is Vice-President of the Civinettes, Appalachian District Civitan Secretary-Treasurer, and District Civitan Newsletter Editor. ROBERT CRIS HUGHES is a commuting Sophomore from Vonore, TN. Cris is majoring in Engineering and is Vice-President of the Phi Theta Kappa. Cris hopes to go on to the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and receive his B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering. I TERRY JOHNSON comes to Hiwassee from Pulaski High School in Pulaski, Virginia. Terry is a member of the Home Economics Club, PTK, Civinettes, Student Council, and the Homecoming Court of 1974. In addition, Terry was selected as a Circle K Calendar Girl and served as Vice-President of the Sophomore Class. Terry plans to attend Virginia Tech agter graduation from Hiwassee. Majoring in Personnel Management, RICKY BLAINE KENNEDY comes to Hiwassee from Vonore. TN. Rick’s activities include member of PTK, Equitation Club, OCP, Civitan-Secretary, and Appalachian District Civitan Sergeant-at-Arms. In addition, Rick served as Editor of the 1976 Hiwassee Yearbook, and has been on the Dean’s List several times. Rick plans to attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and major in Personnel Management. A major in Medical Secretarial, ANITA LEDBETTER hails from Townsend, TN. Anita was Homecoming Queen for 1974, Circle K Calendar Girl for 1975 and 1976, Secretary of FCA, and Miss Hiwassee. Anita was also a member of the Basketball team and was chosen as Most Valuable Player of the Southern Womens Invitational Tournament. i A Sophomore from Loudon, TN, MIKE MESSAMORE is majoring in l’re-Denistry. Mike has been a member of the FCA, H-Club Vice-President, PTK Public Relations, and the Hiwassee College Bowl team for two years. Mike has also been a member of the Golf, Tennis, and Basketball Teams, serving as Captain of the Basketball Team. RHONDA MYERS, a Sophomore from Walland, TN, has been very active at Hiwassee. A major in Secondary Education, Rhonda has served as President of the Education (SNEA) Club and Vice-President of Campus Gold. In addition, site is a member of the PTK, OCP, Hiwassee Choir, Dorm Council, Campus Spots, and the Equitation Club. Rhonda plans to enter the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and receive her B.S. and M.S. Degrees and then teach. f SHEREE L. SCRUGGS, from Madisonville, TN, is seeking a major in Secondary Education. Her activities include member of the Civinettes and PTK. In addition, Sheree received the distinguishing honor of being chosen as the student representative from Hiwassee College to the Holston Conference College Board of Trustees. Sheree plans to attend Tennessee Wesleyan College and major in Psychology. A Sophomore majoring in Woodworking Technology, GERALD JAMES SHARPE comes from Cleveland, TN. Jerry has been active in intramural sports and his freshman year was a member of the Junior Varsity Basketball Team. Jerry was chosen as the Student Body President and presides over (he Student Council. He plans to graduate from Hiwassee and to work and travel looking for new excitement. Coming to Hiwassee College from Kapit, Sarawak, East Malaysia, TECK HOCK TAN is a Sophomore majoring in Business Administra¬ tion. Teck’s activities include member of Drama Club, Campus Spots, OCP, President of Civitans, and Vice-President of OIS. Teck plans to attend Berea College in Berea, Kentucky, after graduation from Hiwassee, his ambition being to be a manager in a business firm. Seeking a double major in Home Economics, Home Management, Equipment, and Family Economics is PATTY MARIE WATERS, a Sophomore from Decatur, TN. Patty has been an active member in the OCP, Dorm Council, Home Economics Club, and PTK. Patty is President of the Civinettes and the Band, Student Council Sophomore Class Representative, was selected as a Circle K Calendar Girl, Student Council Sweetheart, and was in competition for the Miss Hiwassee title. Patty plans to complete her education at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and hopes to work for a power distributing board in Consumer Education.
